Today, I was denied a waitressing job at a local diner I have been going to for years. Due to the fact that my name is Julia. They already have a waitress there named Julie. Apparently, I would "create too much confusion." FML

Get her fired or find yourself a nickname.

Strange, perhaps that was just an excuse. After all, there are last names.

So they're too stupid to hire you?

That's such a stupid reason. Is that even legal?

While this sucks, I kind of understand the logic. Customers don't always pay attention to their waiter's appearance, and reference them by name. In a noisy restaurant the names Julie and JuliA can easily be confused, and the credit for a good/bad job goes to the wrong person.

Did you tell them you're happy to change it for work?
