Today, I was denied a waitressing job at a local diner I have been going to for years. Due to the fact that my name is Julia. They already have a waitress there named Julie. Apparently, I would "create too much confusion." FML

Get her fired or find yourself a nickname.

Strange, perhaps that was just an excuse. After all, there are last names.

That's ridiculous. Where I work, there are about 7 women with the exact same name. Same spelling, same pronunciation, everything. That's not a legitimate reason. FYL.

Offer to go by your middle name or a nickname. If they still refuse, then they were bullshitting you all along, and you should take your business elsewhere.

I was one of three Jessicas before one got fired. We were Jessica, Jessie and Jess. It strangely worked just fine.

It's legal to do that. It's illegal to fire her because of that

depending on what country you are in, they can get in trouble by the human rights board for denying you employment just because of your name

That's no reason not to hire you. It could constitute discrimination, and you should report them for it.

Well I can see the confusing part. At my job we have me Lisette, Lisa, Liz, and Lyndsay. Yea when a client calls its very entertaining how the front staffs describes us all.

Well that just shows why they have to work as waitresses, their too ******* mentally disabeld to be able to handle two people named Julia at the same time. Causes them too much confussion HAHAAAAH!!!!!!!

The people who work at that restaurant must be pretty dumb. Maybe it's a good thing you don't work there.
