Today, I was denied a waitressing job at a local diner I have been going to for years. Due to the fact that my name is Julia. They already have a waitress there named Julie. Apparently, I would "create too much confusion." FML

Today, I was fired from my job as a waitress, all because someone complained there was too much seasoning in their food. As I said, I'm a waitress. This happened the same week I was hired. FML

Today, I had an interview to be a waitress. Afterwards, I had food in the restaurant, which is where I overheard my interviewer tell the manager he wasn’t going to bother hiring “that girl I just interviewed” because "her face is nasty and she’ll put the customers off their food." FML

Today, I applied for a job in an Italian restaurant. Ideally I wanted to be a hostess rather than a waitress, and I told the manager as much. His response? "No no no. Hostess no good for you. We leave that to the pretty girls." FML

Today, I got fired from my new waitress job after 2 shifts. They said I wasn't experienced enough to handle the fast pace. I thought I'd been doing well so I asked my friend who works there what really happened. Apparently not showing my boobs enough at a family place was grounds for dismissal. FML

My name's Julia, too! *high give* That sucks. I guess it would be confusing but patrons almost never call waiters by their names anyway, and if the staff is too lazy to take the time to tell the two of you apart than you can probably find a better job elsewhere. Good luck, OP!

Can't you sue...Equal Employment Opportunity or discrimination. Your unfortunate/sad case makes me wonder if - if and when I am lucky to get an interview, even :P - I should [secretly?] record it... Proof and all, you know? Sorry, OP/Julia, hope you find better employers, soon. :-) Also, as #79 said, it might [also] be bcause they don't want to have to give one of their best customers a discount. How Greedy!
