Today, I was desperately handing out resumes. I came to my local grocery store and asked for a job application, the customer service rep told me all she needed was my resume. I smiled and gave it to her only to see her read it, laugh and put it straight in the garbage as I walked out. FML

Life's a bitch... you shouldn't worry, besides you don't wanna work in a place with workers like that. =/

You may want to revamp that resume of yours. There are government programs that can help you with that, youth centers, job connect, etc. Or google resume layouts and sell yourself (I know your mom told you not to, but as long as it's on paper and not the corner, you should be good)

I'd have turned right around, pointed directly at the old crow, and told her to get her boss immediately. Then I'd have explained exactly what occurred, and what they should do to fix it. FML would die from a lack of submissions if people would be a bit more assertive.

I guess there's something pretty obviously wrong with your resume. I used to have to take people's resumes and assess them in an old job, and you'd be surprised how many resumes people hand out with huge, obvious typos, spelling errors, terrible grammar mistakes there are! Also, people who are applying for jobs they're not qualified for, or only have babysitting listed as work experience.

#5 Resume was spelt just fine. OP had it in plural once....

#48, i think #5 meant that the OP may have misspelled "resume" on the ACTUAL resume he/she handed in...which is why the rep took one look at it and laughed

perhaps the OP has an arts degree? Hell i'd laugh at that

Ain't gonna lie.. I've collected resumes then sat down with a co-worker and laughed at them. Taken them out of their nice plastic holders and crumpled them... Keeping the plastic holder. Sent their hilarious portfolio around the office staff. Not to their face of course. Also, I should note that we always did come to a consensus about which to interview.

If you belong to a protected class that may be considered discrimination. You may want to inform management, not as a way of retribution, but to give them a heads up because they are at risk. You never know, it may turn into an opportunity to push for an interview.
