Today, I was discussing the possibility of other life in the universe with my friend. She said the universe isn't big enough for it to be possible, and that we would know about it already, because "there are only 8 planets in the universe." FML

We live in the milky way galaxy, which consists of 8 planets sans Pluto.. That's probably what she meant, in which case she would be correct.

Oh my God, you people saying the girl was right, please don't breed. There's a whole bunch of planets already discovered in the Milky Way galaxy alone. There's between 200 and 400 billion stars in it, and there's estimated to be about that many planets, too. Please, get a goddamn education.
