Wow your mom must really hate you to name you Margaret in this day and age.
why the **** would your mom name her daughter the same thing
Oh my god. This is the first time an airline has tried to SAVE someone money. Of course it wound up screwing someone over like everything they do. That's just amazing.
#77. I personally know at least three Margarets in their early 20's. Is this supposed to be an outdated name? I didn't think that it had gone the way of Bertha or Gertrude.
Wow, you people are idiots. Who cares about OP having the same name as her mother? Maybe it's a family tradition. Even if it's out of the ordinary for the name to be carried on with women, you shouldn't be criticizing the OP for that. Is there no place in this world for traditions? Sheesh. @OP: This truly sucks for you, I hope you got home with no confusion. PS, I don't think that Margaret is a bad name. These people are just pricks is all.
I know several families where the first son/daughter gets the first name of the father/mother. Sometimes if the first child is a girl and the father has a name that fits both genders, he will give his name to her. I'm surprised the airline did not think about it before, it seems like a quite popular tradition to me.

Why wouldn't they like call you or something and ask if it's a mistake instead of just cancelling your tickets? I know plenty of people that have the same names, especially if they're related.
Can they do that?
