Today, I was flying back home from college with my Mom. At the airport, the ticket agent tells us she only has one ticket listed for Margaret. My mom and I have the same name. American Airlines thought a Margaret had bought two tickets by mistake, so they cancelled one of the transactions. FML

Why wouldn't they like call you or something and ask if it's a mistake instead of just cancelling your tickets? I know plenty of people that have the same names, especially if they're related.

#26 & #28 - yes, most weekends I'm on a plane going somewhere. In fact tomorrow at this time, I'll be on a plane. I've had problems, but I make sure they fix them immediately, if the incompetent one at the counter can't, I'll talk to who can. I'd say losing luggage is the worst, I feel like FML every time that happens. I yawned because I felt this wasn't FML worthy PERSONALLY, but didn't think it was fake.

That's American Airlines for you. I think almost everyone has an American Airlines story...

#65 no one cares. #69 I don't fly because airport security is bs. @ Poster: I want to know how American Airlines followed up on this. FYL though.

@26, so damned true. Got stuck on a crossover flight from Tokyo to Beijing to Birsbane to Sydney (Japan to Australia, btw). Tokyo flight got delayed 3hrs, as we were supposed to change planes at Beijing for the flight to Aus we of course missed that plane and had to wait 8hrs for the next, so our 10hr or so flight got turned into a 21hr flight. So, i can feel your pain. FYL.

If your delay wasn't caused by an act of god, the airline owes you a hotel room for the night - you should have asked for one. While I'll never fly US Airway again, they are the reason I got a nice luxurious room in the Carlton Ritz

@72, forgot to mention, we weren't let out of the transfer room in the Beijing airport. That's 8hrs with no access to anything but toilets (Chinese toilets are RANK even in an airport), our carry on baggage and a complete lack of food.

I have met a few girls with their mother's name. They were all European, Irish actually. Maybe it's a tradition like that. Are you Irish? Sorry you're stuck

I don't like it when people give their kids the same name as themselves. It just doesn't seem like your own. And FYL and I hope you got home alright.
