Today, I was flying back home from college with my Mom. At the airport, the ticket agent tells us she only has one ticket listed for Margaret. My mom and I have the same name. American Airlines thought a Margaret had bought two tickets by mistake, so they cancelled one of the transactions. FML

Why wouldn't they like call you or something and ask if it's a mistake instead of just cancelling your tickets? I know plenty of people that have the same names, especially if they're related.

42, where's the shelteredness in finding it idiotic to give a child the same name as their parent? If anything it's the opposite of sheltered because they're aware of the problems it causes. No, sheltered would be obliviousness to the fact that parents nowadays like to give their children ridiculous sounding names for the sake of being different (which is even more retarded than giving them the same name, but that's a different debate altogether.)

Why did your mom saddle you with her ugly name? What a conceited bitch! We got a dog named Margaret from the SPCA. When I call her in public, people ask me: WTF? That's a crappy name even for a dog! I explain that she was two years old when we got her and thought it better not to change it. For the record, she's a wonderful dog -- probably the sweetest dog I've ever had.

@#44: I've been stranded at airports for extended periods of time, including overnight, and, while it sucks, it's far from "FML-worthy". If the OP believes that it is FML-worthy, then she deserves it for making a big deal out of nothing.

#33 I went through hell with Delta because one of their employees spelled my name wrong (we ordered over the phone and even double-checked the spelling). Turns out that they can't just change a ticket, but it needs to be canceled and re-assigned. And they overbooked my flight, so when they canceled mine, somebody automatically got my place. After a few hours on the phone, they finally fixed it, but I couldn't sit with my friends.

they owe you a ticket... and theres ALWAYS extra seats. I fly a lot, and ive never been on a plane without an extra seat. so basically, your life is not ******, and if you werent aggressive enough to do something about it, thats you and your mother's problem.

What airport do you fly to/from? I fly a lot too, and I'd say a good half of the time the plane is completely full, even first class. Smaller airports don't fill up as fast, but for more popular destinations it is VERY likely that the plane is full...
