Today, I was gushing about my love for Disney princesses when someone told me I "definitely needed to calm down." By whom? A four-year-old girl. FML

OP, hi! I can definitely be talkative sometimes, but that's actually not what happened here. I was at my friend's house and we were trying to pick a movie to watch when I noticed they had Aladdin. We got into a silly argument over whether to watch that or some action flick when I started dramatically singing and talking about all my favorite Disney princesses for laughs. Little did I know, during that time, my friend's little sister had wandered in and was staring at me. The whole room quieted down and then we heard that little bit of sass- "You definitely need to calm down." We all laughed so hard we cried.

This just means you weren't singing "Part of Your World" loud enough. Try harder!

I never got into all the Disney movies, never for all the hype.

There is nothing wrong with loving Disney!!

Walt Disney cartoons were a big part of my childhood, and I'm a cartoon maker myself. I've got dolls of Tinkerbell and Ariel, Mickey Mouse-shirts and plushies, and even Disney Princess songs for kareoke. So don't you be dissin' da Disney! Lol

Knowing how people talk about Disney sometimes... Op might have honestly been weird. It annoyed me when adults would assume, because I was a child, I liked to be talked to about princesses and in a baby voice. It happened more than once and I told them something similar. People would call me rude, but you cannot assume because someone is young and female that they want to listen to you go on and on about how much Cinderella changed your life. Also, not watching Disney movies does not mean the girl is lacking anything in life or that she does not have dreams.

I used to gush about anime or superheroes or movies I loved. I learned very early that when gushing, you need to find the right crowd. Even though my friends loved me, they didn't want to sit through a monologue about why Iron Man is the best Avenger. There seem to be plenty of people who love Disney movies. Maybe find someone who shares your passion and who will be able to appreciate it. Just because someone is four and a girl does not mean she will like Disney princesses. The four year old I used to baby sit loved Tonka trucks. He brother was the one who loved Disney.

I know, I was actually talking to friends at the time and she was eavesdropping :) As a past Hot Wheels lover in addition to a princess, I pride myself in always being careful never to assume anything about kids- or anyone, for that matter!

Location, location, location. Find the right crowd? Commence fangirling!

Until I saw the state, I was sure you were an acquaintance of mine. I love me some Disney princesses, but that girl really does need to calm down.

Disney is for any age...maybe she liked a different princess more and wanted you to stop so that she could give her input...

Maybe she didn't like princesses or had never seen them

Poor girl... So young and her childhood is already over.
