Today, I was having a debate with my friend over tattoos. I used the example that you wouldn't put a bumper sticker on a Ferrari. He looked me in the eye and said, "Yeah, but you're no Ferrari. More like a Prius." FML

I don't really consider the bumper stickers and tattoos comparison as being valid because most tattoos carry a heavy meaning to the individual. A bumper sticker can be removed and changed as the owner likes. Tattoos aren't quite the same.

I agree that all tattoos SHOULD have deep and personal meaning to the person getting them, however reality is such that douchebags get Tweetie and Tinkerbell tats because "I was bored". Those kinds of people should be banned from tattoo shops.

Hey thanks for stickin up for us....some squares will never understand what it means to be a triangle :/ all my tattoos are heavy meaning to me so the bumper sticker comparison is really quite an insult. To each their own.

Yeahh! Being a girl with tattoos and also a lover of men with tattoos, I completely understand the true meaning behind them. I also wish they were more widely accepted in society and allowed in more "upscale" workplaces.

It's getting better! I work as a control accountant for a large investment bank and have three visible tattoos. There's also a guy in the office with sleeves and large gauge ear plugs. Slowly it's becoming more acceptable to have ink and less than conventional piercings :)

I love my tattoos. They're almost always a conversation starter when people ask me what they mean, and I get to share about stuff that's meaningful rather than a stupid flower. I think people's attitudes are changing! Except, of course, for OP's. YDI.
