well....women do care a lot about their looks....so i understand why the OP is mad but the guy meant that he married her for HER not for the outside but for her personality ^_^.....dam girls these days really need to use their brains....and dont even get me started on blondes cuz i've seen enough dumb ones in my lifetime

In a way he is an ass, but in another it is incredibly sweet. It can be taken as him calling you ugly, but also him saying he cares more about your personallity than your looks, so it's a so-so thing, definitly not a FML though, because you were fishing for a compliment.

The way I see it the basis of a good marriage is not a physical attraction. Although you learn how to turn each other on and what each other like. a marriage based on that kind of relationship will not last. As long as you don't turn absolutely repulsive your husband shouldn't care. + the fact that he didn't choose you because of your looks means there is something deeper there. I think that that comment although on the surface demeaning points to the fact that you have a strong relationship with your husband so don't complain he seems to love you for who you are not what you are.
