Today, I was in the supermarket when I saw a little boy trying to reach for something on the top shelf. I went over to him and asked if his mom knew where he was. The boy turned around. He was actually a very angry midget. FML

I don't see how you could make this mistake. People who suffer from dwarfism tend to have a very characteristic body shape that looks nothing like a child...

you should maybe not call him a midget either... it's dwarf or little people that'll just make them angrier....

i wldnt say YDI cos yr intentions well.. are good... and yeah i agree w #83 midget isnt a nice word

Aw, that sucks for the OP. But I think I might've done something similar in the same situation, because kids shouldn't be unattended in a grocery store, and a little person could easily look like a kid from behind. Also, just want to point out, it wouldn't be the greatest idea to ask a kid if they need help reaching something because their mother could find you handing the item to their child and become angry if they see a stranger giving something to their kid (especially if she told her kid not to get the item, like if it was candy or something). just pointing that out though, because I know that that obviously wasn't the case in this scenario

LMFAO, wow... and i dont think you are supposed to call them midgets.

You're a DUMBASS for not being able to tell a midget from a small child.

"Midget" is a derogatory term. Dwarf/little person are more respectful terms to use when describing someone who has dwarfism.

I've seen this exact FML on this site before. Moderate this. To my 90... they all mean the same thing... the person is small and not the size of normal adults. Midget, dwarf, little person, they call convey the same message, so there's no point in picking one and saying it's derogatory.
