Today, I was moving to the city with all my belongings when the trailer came unhitched, breaking the chains on my dad's homemade trailer. I then watched as the trailer narrowly missed a guardrail, went down a hill and into a river. My dad still won't admit he didn't latch the hitch. FML

OP, you're driving. It's your responsibility to check it. You're not living with mommy and daddy anymore. Time to take responsibility for yourself.

Once the phrase "homemade trailer" appears, you just know that comedy or tragedy (or both) is certainly going to happen. Other things that should not be homemade are fire extinguishers, dental tools and colonoscopy probes.

I bet Doc has performed at least one colonoscopy using a coke bottle and a piece of string. That was probably where he got his x-ray pic from.

that sucks! at least now you get to go shopping, hopefully on his charge! (:

I don't think the dad who makes rickety trailers does so because he's rolling in dough and finds it a quaint hobby. With his probable income, I doubt the OP could join the exclusive club of People of Walmart.

welll yah never know! somebody has to help OP get new stuff :/

YDI, you should have checked it before you left, then checked it again a few miles down the road. You are lucky nobody was hurt!

Occasionally I'll see a pickup hauling a trailer made out of another pickup bed. That's country.

FYL, but at least you're fine and didn't get hurt.

my guess is things started to go when when the "homemade trailer" came in to the scenario.

YDI for using your homemade trailer and you homemade chains
