Today, I was out shopping with my son and unbeknownst to me, he had secretly added a bunch of expensive games he wanted to the trolley. I was too embarrassed at the till to make a fuss as there was a huge line behind me. I watched as my normal £50 shopping bill climbed to over £400. FML

Here's an idea. Put the damn games back and discipline your kid.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but you need to take control of your life before your son ends up the most spoiled, demanding child you've ever met. You taught him a lesson today - "Mom won't cause a scene, so I can get away with whatever I want in a public place".

I'm sorry op, sounds exactly like something my own brother would pull. I totally understand not wanting to be rude, I just hope that you are able to return the games and get your money back.

Sorry OP this one is on you. YDI I'd suggest (as many others have) to return them, and if you let him keep the games at least go through them first and make sure they are age appropriate. Too many parents don't realize the content in what they are buying for their kid. Either way though I definitely don't think he deserves them.

It's rather obvious that you let your kid wear the pants in the family.....put your damn foot down

The supermarkets around where I live have scan as you shop- it makes it very hard to sneak things into the trolley. If your supermarket has this you should definitely make use of it.

I'm sorry but this is a total YDI. Regardless of the queue you could have put the games back and saved the money, you chose not to and taught your son that he could get away with what he did. I hope that afterwards you returned the games, got your money back, and punished your son for his misbehaviour. If it was me, I would have put the games back and I would have made a scene. I sure wouldn't have a spare $350 to waste on games for a child who doesn't deserve them.

Thx for letting me know. I forgot when writing my comment to change the currency symbol. But I did mean £350 instead of $350.

Ayyyyy I hope you're a Leeds United fan

You're the mother, you make the rules and you just taught your kid that you won't stand up to them. Good job.

You've got to be kidding me. From £350 of games to £3.50 in sweets, every parent at some point has had to hand something over at the checkout and say, my kid slipped this into my trolley, no thanks!

How did this even happen? When you buy games anywhere nowadays you have to wait for them to get the discs so you would have been quicker just telling the cashier you don't want them. You would only be leaving a few empty boxes at the till and I'm sure they would understand. I'm pretty sure they see kids sneak stuff into trolleys all the time.
