Today, I was sitting on a bus. I'm deaf. An old lady looked very angry at me and started talking. Then she looked like she was screaming. I had to type on my phone that I'm deaf. Apparently, I'd been stepping on her foot. She decided to poke me in the eye and type, "Now you're blind too." FML

My response would be to type in another message "now youre dying" and cut off her oxygen supply

Omg, that's horrible! I hate it when people are rude. If I were you I'd have flipped her the bird and in ASL told her to watch her big feet.

I would've told her off behind her back in ASL

She sounds like an angry old lady. Not all old ladies are like that, it's only the ones who's kids don't come to visit.

How hard could you have been stepping on her foot if you were sitting down! Some old people are such assholes!

Why did you need to text it on your phone? Unless you're mute too, you could've just verbally told her you're deaf -_-

If you were mute too, then she could have made you the next Helen Keller. I find this amusing LOL

because the inability to hear what one is saying makes it impossible to speak understandably.

114 - no it doesn't, I know plenty of deaf people who can read lips and are perfectly capable of speaking coherently. A lot of deaf people go to voice classes when they are young and learn to speak. Point is, If you don't know what you're talking about you're better off just shutting up so you don't look like a damn fool.

Oh lord, the ignorance. First;, Hellen Keller was Deaf and Blind (you will recall from movies, she said 'water' and other words). Second; some Deaf people are born that way others go Deaf later in life due to illness and may already have learned to speak. Third; speech classes are commonly forced on young Deaf children by hearing parents and some speech is not uncommon.

111, deaf people can't always talk because they can't hear the sounds they're forming. When they do talk, it can be hard to understand unless they're practiced.

Some deaf people's voices can be hard to understand (mine included). It takes years of speech therapy. The person who wrote this FML might not have been comfterble with her voice.
