Today, I was suffering from acid reflux. I was told that drinking water laced with baking soda would help. Nope, all it did was create a huge belch that made me vomit all over myself. FML

Baking soda helps reflux quite well. If it didn't, it could be something else that causes similar symptoms, like gall stones or esophagitis. If the symptoms continue, rather than self-medicating or taking advice from "someone" (including me), go see a doctor.

damn I feel for you. I have a huge fear of vomiting so that is like my worst nightmare.

You may need to lower the baking soda dosage, so you don't rupture your stomach. I prefer tums and ginger ale myself. And I take Prilosec's generic daily.

my husband does that all the time. you must of mixed it wrong. there's instructions on the sides of the bakin soda box on how to do it.

You HAVE made a baking soda volcano before, right? No offense but YDI for not using common sense, or at least looking it up first.

That's the worst advice ever. I have it too but Lansoprazole/omeprazole/any other PPI works best for acid reflux. :)

I've had acid reflux for a long time. I prefer OTC (over the counter) medicine such as TopCare Antacid Calcium, 2-4 of those tend to help me (depends on the size of the chewable tablet) or drinking some water, but before you self medicate you should really do some research, or even contact your doctor to see what home remedies, or OTC can help. Sometimes that isn't enough, and it requires prescription medication. Good luck if this is something you suffer from daily (like I do.)

I don't see how that didn't make it worse lemons are acidic and the pain is coming from stomach acid

it just always has straight lemon juice sometimes chased with a little water
