Today, I was suffering from acid reflux. I was told that drinking water laced with baking soda would help. Nope, all it did was create a huge belch that made me vomit all over myself. FML

Baking soda helps reflux quite well. If it didn't, it could be something else that causes similar symptoms, like gall stones or esophagitis. If the symptoms continue, rather than self-medicating or taking advice from "someone" (including me), go see a doctor.

damn I feel for you. I have a huge fear of vomiting so that is like my worst nightmare.

i have bad acid reflux too you should visit a doctor but there are also some natural remedies that may work for you. try ginger tea or ginger ale (just be careful it has real ginger in it not some flavouring), you can try over the counter pills they also help bit are not that good for you, and lastly the thing i think works best is a natural mineral water, just find a brand that has a more basic pH, the acidic ones will (obviously) worsen the problem.

Well hope you feel better at least

but did it help with the acid reflux?

i made an account just to say this: it does work. the acid in your stomach reacts with the baking soda which us a base. this lowers the acidity of your stomach. a product of this reaction is carbon dioxide, which you burp up. you must have taken too much at one time.

You could try taking Nexium, it's available over the counter, and it really works.

medicine cures acid reflux but if you're in a pinch then chew non mint gum or eat a banana.

Eat a spoon of mustard! No jokes, it's horrible but it works, that's what I do everytime!
