Today, I was talking to a colleague about love. He told me he's given up on love because things ended badly with a previous girl. I said, "Maybe it wasn't meant to be, and she wasn't the one." He then said the reason it didn't work out was because she killed herself. FML

I think most people would have assumed she broke his heart. No one would have guessed she committed suicide. It must have been an awkward situation, but hopefully he will understand.

Love is just one of those subjects that most people are unrealistically positive about. He was probably tired of people telling him she just probably wasn't "the one." I sympathize with the guy.

I went through a similar, but not quite the same, thing. An awesome song I found is Five Finger Death Punch - The Bleeding. If your colleague is into metal have a look at the video. Anyway, don't think you were out of line.
