Today, I was texting this guy i've liked for a really long time, because of how nice and sentimental he is. We were sending each other things like "You make me smile" and "You're so damn cute" when finally he said "Let's just stop texting and hook up already." So much for sentimental. FML

Sentimental people can't be sentimental 24/7 and believe it or not they can get horny once in a while too. YDI for having an unrealistic expectation of this guy as a sentimental "captain romance" and for forgetting that he can also be less than perfect sometimes.

And yeah he may have a sentimental side but that doesn't mean he is sentimental constantly, as #242 pointed out (I don't agree with 242 that he is 'less than perfect' as a result). Speaking as a male, #13's generalization is pretty accurate, and kitchen jokes are made only by unfunny sexist bästards who have probably never made it past 1st base with anyone but their hand.
