What is a 'telecommunication school?' Sounds like another useless Devry graduate.
That's where you're wrong. While the absolute exact value of the GPA doesn't necessarily matter in the real world, it can either show commitment on behalf of the individual to do a good job, or it can show what a slacker the person is. It can show how easily the person learns and catches on, or how much time and effort has to be put in to making the person get something. It is tangible evidence of a person's dedication, integrity, and learning ability. By no means will I EVER claim to be a better or smarter person than anyone strictly on the basis of education. One of the smartest people I know works at Walmart with no higher education whatsoever. However, someone who does not have the tangible proof of their work that I do, i.e. a college diploma, should by all means have a more difficult time proving they are just as, if not more, capable of learning the ins and outs of the job as I am. Granted, this does not take into account other variables, such as prior experience in the field (in this case, as a cashier) because someone without a degree who has already had that particular kind of job does have an advantage over someone with a degree. That's the purpose of including a resume with the application and the interview process. Welcome to the real world. No, your GPA won't matter forever, but until you get experience it's all you've got.
Don't feel bad. companies like that (weather they admit it or not) will actually turn people away for being overqualified. they look for people who will be happy with their simple job and not for people who will easily move on.
The american dream shatterd.
ever heard of overqualification? Come on you don't really think they didn't hire you because you're not good enough?? They probably figured you would not stay there long so they did not want to waste time training you if you would leave in a few months.
What to know why? It's what's on your application. You're overqualified. When they see your resume, they think that you'll leave the job at the first shot you get. You need to take that diploma off of your resume, no matter how much it pains you. Don't worry, it's not because you're not good enough, you're too good.
maybe you should have gone to a better school than a telecommunications school? idk...like a real college. university of phoenix and itt tech don't count so dont be too upset...
get off your high horse
im sorry. i figured that ppl weren't getting jobs so i decided to better myself by furthering my education in law school. can't find a job? go back to school. can't afford it? thats your fault for having shitty credit.
That didn't really make any sense. Nice try though.
If it makes you feel any better I was recently told that 54% of people between the ages 18-25 can't find jobs. I know that for three years I’ve been applying to between 3 and 10 places per week and of those have only even gotten interviews at 10 places, and those I had to call and ask the status on my application to get. Of those 10, two canceled because they found someone before the interview, one I wasn’t qualified for but they didn’t state that in their application, three of them rejected me because they thought I was lying when I said I could lift 50lbs (I can lift 145 at least, because I carried a family friend in and out of our house and up our stairs, for post op checkups because she couldn’t walk). Three I never heard back from and refused to answer my phone calls. One was, coincidentally, the first place I applied to when I first started looking. They almost hired me but I was still living at home and my father thought it necessary to SHOUT at my future-manager midway through the process because I was going to be waking up early for morning shifts and the walls are thin at our house, so my alarm would wake him. I was then told that someone else was going to fill the position. Thanks dad! On the other hand, I don’t have a degree (working on that at the moment). I’m sorry this happened to you. Keep trying!
Sorry but YDI for going into a field which is super highly competitive.

You sound like a driven individual that will give a sustained effort to excel. You are clearly not Best Buy material. Take your rejection as a compliment.
its the damn economy, not your fault...
