Today, I was visiting my new in-laws for the first time. During an awkward silence, I took my phone and figured I'd send my friend a text jokingly saying "Mayday, mayday! Somebody save me!" My mood lightened up a little and I felt quite well until my mother-in-law's phone beeped. Yep. FML

Are you the same guy that "accidentally"sent a nude picture to his best friend? You really need to check the person you're sending the message to.

Am I the only one who double checks the name or the number of who I'm texting before I send it?

Did you close your eyes and play Russian Roulette with yourself? Cos that's not the best thing for your health, especially when you offend Mama Bear.

How did you send your "new in-laws" a text message... I'm pretty sure I wait to get someone's number until I actually meet them :p

Generally you've met your spouse's family before you marry him/her.

It says right in the FML that OP was meeting them for the first time

I read it as the OP visiting for the first time now that she's married. Hopefully they would have been at the wedding, but who knows? That could be why things were so tense.

maybe the inlaws dont live in the same country and the only contact OP had with them was via phone..

Ok, how did u have her number if you have never met them before??? Sounds a bit pony to me!!

I don't understand how you could NOT tell if it was the wrong number , especially if you're writing a message like that. YDI OP

I should really read these comments before posting everyone ask the same thing

Well, get yourself a cookie for realizing it before being trolled at :p

so you never met your in-laws before...but how do you have your mother in laws cellphone number then?

OP undoubtedly would have met them before and had her number for wedding plans, etc. This must have been the first visit to their home which may not be local to OP. Regardless, big mistake pissing off the MIL so early on.

You have never met your in-laws until now , but it SO HAPPENS , you texted your mother in laws number , even though you've never spoken to each other before that moment ? YDI.

It says she was VISITING them for the first time, not meeting or speaking to them for the first time.

I bet that made the awkward silence a wee bit more awkward.
