Today, I was visiting my new in-laws for the first time. During an awkward silence, I took my phone and figured I'd send my friend a text jokingly saying "Mayday, mayday! Somebody save me!" My mood lightened up a little and I felt quite well until my mother-in-law's phone beeped. Yep. FML

Are you the same guy that "accidentally"sent a nude picture to his best friend? You really need to check the person you're sending the message to.

Am I the only one who double checks the name or the number of who I'm texting before I send it?

If you were just meeting her, why was her number right there on your cell phone?

To the million comments wondering why she has her in-laws' number before meeting them: just because they've never physically met does not mean they have never spoken to each other...

Let this be a lesson to you: taking out your cell phone is not the way to handle an awkward silence. It'll just make things worse, because the people you're with will think - sorry, know - that you're rude and don't want to talk to them.

You could have made a joke out of it and pretended to fall over when she looked over at you. She might think you're crazy, but it's worth a shot, and you might have gotten a few laughs. Anyways, I hope you didn't get into too much trouble.

How/why did you have each other's numbers if you hadn't met before? Seems a bit strange to me

If you have never met them before... why do you have her phone number?

Um....explain to me how you have her number in your texting list when you're just meeting her for the first time?
