Today, I was washing my hair in the shower when the water went ice cold. It's 20 degrees outside and we have soft water which takes a longer time to wash away soap. FML

that's when u should step out if the shower and rinse ur hair in the sink

Kids and their hot water and reverse osmosis filters. You don't know how lucky you have it. Back when I was a kid we bathed in rocks, wiped our rears with broken glass and walked to school (uphill both ways) barefoot through a briar patch.

Uh, if you have soft water, you don't need to use sooooo much soap.

Don't wash in the sink cause if u have no hot water in the shower ur not going to have hot water in the sink! Duh! Have u aver heard of Thomas Paine he wrote a book called COMMON SENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read IT sometime!

Yes but see, washing your hair in the sink the cold only touches your head, but washing it in the shower your whole body is in the cold.

I know..... I learned that in school..... I was just saying some people need common sense. It is a joke my teacher made up.

It's O.K.. Thanks for saying sorry.

Either it's an American/Alabama phrase or I'm just stupid, but... what the hell is 'soft water'?

Soft water is water that has a lot less calcium and other stuff in it than the "hard" kind; culture is not just a USA thing.

I think in this case they actually mean low water pressure though, because I don't think that soft water will take longer to rinse your hair than hard water.

Im from Alabama, and when I say soft water I mean low water pressure.. :/

I think if you're over about 12 you should be slightly worried you don't know that there's hard and soft water...

Why? I can't see that it's a massively vital thing to know. I'm sure there's things you don't know that others would be appalled at.

Um, this kind of thing happens to people all the time. It sucks, but we get over it. It's too mundane to be an FML.

Oh yes, because Alabama is exempt from the winter months. :P It got down to like 16-19 degrees a week or two ago, and yesterday it was 47 -49.. Usually its hot and humid as hell in the summer though.

16-19 is cold, and I will consider anything below 40 to be cold. 47-49 is nice though. chilly but with a jacket or sweatshirt, quite comfortable. Although I suppose if you're used to weather that's a lot warmer it'll be cold by comparison.

The 47-49 felt so good just because the sun was out that day, so the cooler breeze felt good. If only it felt that good everyday. :)

suck it up i was in a freezing cold rain storm in short shorts and a bikini top for 2 hrs how dya think i felt

You were lucky. We lived for three months in a paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six in the morning, clean the paper bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down t' mill, fourteen hours a day, week-in week-out, for sixpence a week, and when we got home our Dad would thrash us to sleep wi' his belt.
