Today, I was working as a lifeguard. A woman began to have a seizure. Nervous, I went into shock and walked into a tree, knocking myself out. Post seizure, the woman stood up and walked away. Later, I woke up in the hospital. The ambulance had arrived to take her, but ended up taking me instead. FML

You call yourself a lifeguard? Pathetic.

If you can't deal with life and death situations, GTFO out lifeguarding. If a little 4 year old starts to drown, it is your damn job to save his ass. You can't be going into shock, that's not something life guards can afford to do.

thats sucks man, but maybe you should think about getting a new job.

I call BS. Nobody goes into shock and walks into a tree. That's just stupid.

#20 i agree, i also think is fake. On otrher hands i really think that if it was true this is a case of a poorly selected and trained ifeguard that can´t deal with stress, in that case i think is a YDI, and also a danger to the comunity.

You shouldn't go into shock. You should have gone into 'I know wut to do and am on autopilot mode.' That's how a lifeguard is supposed to work during an incident of some sort. I would know. I've been a lifeguard for 3 years. Was this your first time having an incident? Either way, I would think long and hard about keeping your job. What if that woman had that seizure in the pool? she could have drowned while you were in your shock.

How do you go into shock and WALK INTO A TREE? thats just retarded

Hopefully you get fired since you're unable to actually do your job.

1) yes, lifeguards are trained to handle these situations. 2) maybe it was a waterpark? there would be plenty of trees around for shade 3) time to get a new job. yes it's traumatic, but like #48 said, you should go on autopilot when something like this happens
