Today, I washed my boyfriend's work clothes, trying to make up for a fight we had earlier. After taking them out, I found his phone, wallet and keys at the bottom of the washer, completly waterlogged. This is not the peace offering I'd hoped for. FML

Hay OP here, yeah I know it's my fault, I seriously ****** up. The original argument was about him spilling his coffee milkshake all in my car and on my purse, but that's water under the bridge now. I normally do check all the pockets before I put them in, I was just in a rush. I told him stright away and the wallet and keys are salvageable but the phone very much not. He's attually really chill about it bc he knows I didn't mean too and I am going to help him sort out a new phone asap. Always check your pockets folks!

Sorry, but YDI. I just can't understand why people don't check the pockets of clothes before washing.

If you put the waterlogged phone in some rice it will be good as new the next morning. The rice attracts Asians who fix the electronic device. (This is a joke and is not meant to be taken even slightly seriously)

If he normally does his own laundry, then faulting him for leaving these things in his pocket is unreasonable. He probably checks his pockets before he washes them. This was an accident, but if you're doing laundry for someone else, check their pockets. It takes a few extra seconds to do this. If you don't, it takes about 40 hours of work to replace the phone. I'm glad your bf was understanding of the situation.

phones are really important. there are things on there you cant get back sometimes. especially if its on the phone itself, YDI but he'll get over it. its replaceable. me, i use my phone for work, i do massage. if my phones gets wet or messed up im screwed.

Seriously?? Did no one ever teach you to check pockets?

As kind hearted as this is, if you didn't check the pockets you deserved it.

Listen. If you want to do something nice, just give him a *******. I'm serious here.

definitely washed my s/o's wallet last week, after he asked me to wash everything in the clothes hamper. didn't check pockets beforehand, got yelled at. If it's in the hamper, pockets should already have been checked imo

I don't understand why anyone would wash clothes without first checking the pockets.

I really dont understand people who do laundry and don't check pockets first. ydi
