Today, I watched "Time of the Doctor" and I'm pretty sure my love of Doctor Who slithered out through my ear and shamefully lodged itself in the darkest corner of the room, crying. FML

Sadly we have to relive this over and over again. But Hopefully we fall in love with Capaldi soon, though Smith will be remembered.

I was bawling my eyes out and my love was laughing at me

Worst. Episode. Ever. I was looking forward to Capaldi but now I'm not, because I'm afraid Moffat's going to mess it up. Moffat is not a good writer, that much has been made clear. Yes, he has written some excellent standalone episodes, but he is not capable of maintaining the show. It's just become a show about how clever he is, and how good he is at coming up with complex plots, that aren't even that clever or complex. All of his female characters are basically the exact same character: 'feisty' with a crush on the Doctor. There has been nowhere near the breadth of characterisation seen with Rose, Martha and Donna, as well as secondary female characters who we got to know better in one episode than we have so far with Clara. With every other regeneration so far, I have been incredibly emotional, but with this one I did not feel anything. Until afterwards, when I felt angry. Matt Smith was an excellent Doctor and he deserved a better send-off than that.

I couldn't agree with you more.

#27 - you've just summed up my feelings for all post Tennant episodes perfectly. And it's such a shame because all the characters used to be brilliant, as well as stories that kept you on the edge of your seat, and different sides of the doctor being revealed in ways that hadn't been seen before.

Not exactly. Amy Pond was feisty, yes, but a crush on the Doctor? No. She was engaged to Rory. The only time Amy ever made a pass on the Doctor was when she was drunk and it was the day before her wedding. I can see where you're coming from, but one thing is evident and true, Moffat has taken the Doctor Who universe and kept it in the limelight. Now, there was proof of the ratings going down after RTD and in the early years of Moffat, but its gone back up with season 7. If you take a look at Rose, Martha, and Donna, they were all essentially the same. Different personalities, but all the same strong, female character who proved herself there for the Doctor through and through, just like Amy and Clara. All 5 of these companions have had different experiences, so things are going to be different for each one. The main thing I gotta disagree on is Clara. There was a key reason we didn't find out that much about Clara and that's because she was supposed to remain a mystery until the right time. We got to see her personality, but we found out about who she was at a time when her back story was needed and relevant. We had to see why she was the impossible girl, and why she was showing up all over time and space. I don't like Moffat, mostly because of the way he does things. I don't like that the Doctor never really talks about his past anymore. That was one thing I loved about 10. 10 always made references to his past. I think Moffat needs to drop either Doctor Who or Sherlock and stick with one and improve on it. I also don't like the pain causing methods of removing characters. *****SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER***** 11'S hallucination of Amy was probably the best and most painful moment of the whole episode. That, I think was one of the achievements of the Christmas Special.

Actually if you look at the very first few episodes Amy ran away with the Doctor bc she did fancy him and she ran away from her own wedding too. the writers even baited how Amy's then unknown baby ~might~ be a result of Amy/Doctor. Plus the companions I agree are independent, intelligent women but in their own ways. Rose loved the Doctor and would do anything for him. Martha cared for the Dr as well but she decided to become independent bc he was too stuck in the past. Donna was his best friend and would always talk him into doing the right thing: which even meant giving mercy to the bad guys.

You expressed exactly what I have been thinking so eloquently. Thank you.

Wow. My friend who posted on FB how she likes the new doctor seems to be in the minority. Not sure I want to watch it now. :S

Chosha, Peter Capaldi will be excellent as the Doctor. The Doctor is one of those unique characters where everyone who plays him is perfect for the role. Even the ones a few people have hated for some reason or other (Sylvester McCoy for example). The reason being is that each incarnation is entirely different to the rest. So the actor himself can choose who his doctor should be. The problem though, lies with Moffatt himself. The episode wasn't as terrible as people make it out to be. It just had a lot of hype and didn't live up to it. Not in comparison with the 50th anniversary. It should have been as good though, as it was Matt's last episode. It was a pivotal moment in the history of doctor who which has been prepared for since the Colin Baker era with 1986's the Trial of a Time Lord (which introduced the Valeyard). You could go even further back and say that the foundations of this episode were lain in 1976's the Deadly Assassin which set out the 13 regenerations rule. This was a key episode and they failed to perform... As a single episode, it was alright - and certainly a bearable episode with some touching moments. But given the context it was dreadful.

It's dr who...I don't blame you...I would probably do the same if I was in you situation...

You should have seen me after the Winter Finale of Once Upon a Time. I went and cried for hours

A lot fans were crying. I wanted to punch someone after it.
