Today, I went home after work with my best friend who I am also secretly in love with. We had a few drinks, were getting touchy, and one thing led to another. Before leaving, I got the courage to ask her out on a real date. Her only reply was, "I don't want to lose such a good friend." FML

Medication tells us more.

I didn't have an account when I posted this, but I'm the OP, and honestly, during our drunken state, I mustered up enough sobriety to prevent things from going too far. I as well, didn't want to ruin things between us by having sex because I respected her too much, and wanted more than that. Was it the right thing to do, or was I just being a dumbass? One commenter was correct in stating that she was confused as to what she really wanted. Either way, we've talked it out, and moved over that. It's better anyways maybe, considering we both work together and I have to go on months long deployments with this girl, haha. :]

To the people saying, "Get over it'; 'She doesn't owe you anything'; 'Best friends are best friends and nothing more", yes I understand all of that. But at least I took that chance, instead of forever wondering, "What if?" One commenter was correct in stating that she was confused as to what she really wanted. Often times friends dating doesn't work just because you are goods friends doesn't mean they are that way when you date them same goes with friends and deciding to be roommates. Living with friends or dating friends you find out a lot you didn't know before. Been through that myself ( dating a friend) and I had been friends with her for 4 1/2 years. She was a good friend, but she seemed to be manic/ bi polar and it made things very difficult. The friends with benefits is a bad idea. I've known a few people who have gotten std's because the person was hooking up with and ex and she was sleeping around. Be careful, friends with benefits sounds like fun , but a lot of people aren't anywhere near as careful as they should be.

Anyone who actually believes her excuse in here is being quite naive. I think a chance at being in a great relationship with a friend is more worth the risk than just staying friends just to preserve the friendship. Which means, she just isn't into you, but made a drunken mistake.

If u have real serious feelings about her and she feels the same way then you were being a dumbass. But if y'all were to get it on, u should do it sober. Turn your liquid courage to actual courage cuz I doubt those feelings are just gonna go away

No matter how tempting don't dip in the company ink!
