Today, I went on a date. I took her out to an expensive steak house. When she was done eating, she got up, said she was married, and told me she only accepted the date because I'd be paying for it. FML

That was probably her way of letting you down easy. Making a big show of the first date is in general a bad idea save that for someone you are in a relationship with. Also, even you didn't know it was a bad idea you can find out a ton of this stuff just by doing an internet search. There is no reason not to know like making a big proposal, dating friends or co workers and over doing on a first date that in general it doesn't end well.

Your first mistake was taking a first date to an expensive restaurant. First dates, especially ones you met online, should be taken to somewhere like Appleby's or Chile's. Sucks thst she is married and not wanting an affair, she is just a user.

Why do an expensive steakhouse for a first date with someone you obviously know nothing about, unless it just happens to be your favorite place to eat, or if you make enough money that it's not such a big deal if the date goes badly
