Today, I went shopping for a wedding dress at a fancy store. The proprietor took one look at me, said they don't have any dresses large enough for me, and asked me to leave. No wonder my self-confidence is in the gutter. FML

Ok, OP here. The first woman I asked did not even attempt to size me, just sent me to the 'plus' section. When I got to the plus section, she did not size me either, but looked me up and down and asked me what size t-shirt I wear. I usually wear a medium when I wear stretchy tees, large when I don't. She told me they will not have anything in my size in white ever. I should not go other places, either, I should just call and that way I don't have to be disappointed everywhere I go. Thank you guys for your words of encouragement, but I think I'm just going to not get a dress.

I was treated very badly when I bought my dress. I called the headquarters and told them I would call the news and they gave me my dress for free.

She's probably just jealous because she's not getting married. Always a wedding dress seller, never a wearer.

They told you you wouldn't be able to find a dress EVER for being a medium to large?? Well looks like I'm screwed as I wear a 26/28! If you can manage a trip, look up Vows. I think they're in Mass but I can't remember. You'll be able to get a really cheap but designer gown and I'm sure they'll have it in your size.

WTF!?!?!! I cannot believe that happened. Wow. I would go to the news and make a big deal about it. Here where I live and gay couple went into a cake shop to buy a cake for their wedding. The owners wouldn't do it. So the gay couple went to the news and now I think the cake shop had to close because of such bad publicity. I'm sorry that happened to you. I always say Marilyn Monroe was a size sixteen and people still pine for her. Good luck in your search. You'll find the perfect dress. And congrats!

I think this is one of those cases where the best revenge will be to find yourself an awesome dress somewhere else and not give another thought to the ass who was rude to you.

I'm sorry you had this happen to you OP. I would have been super pissed off with those women. But don't give up hope. Keep looking and you'll find a store that will treat you with respect and help you find a gorgeous dress that will make you look and feel amazing.

I have had some very good experiences ordering ball gowns online at jjshouse.com. They have a wide range of very pretty wedding dresses and they're made to order, so you can just input your measurements and it'll fit you like a dream. :)

Screw that guy! Not literally though

I'm sorry, but what a ******* ****. She doesn't deserve your business.

They were just being douche bags OP, don't listen to them. Even if you are big, so what? Beauty comes in ALL shapes and sizes. I'm sure your soon-to-be-husband sees your beauty, and you should too. Stay positive, they probably didn't have your dream dress anyway!

Well, I'm kind of torn on this. On the one hand, if you were too large for any of the dresses they carried, then there's really nothing they can do about it. On the other hand, it sounds like the proprietor was rude to you. At the very least, they could have been polite and given you suggestions as to where you could find a dress.

what they could have was let her look at dresses, hold them up to her body, and see if any were styles she liked and see if they could get the dress made in her measurements I'm getting married in august and had to go thru this not to long along one shop the lady wouldn't even look in my direction i found a dress in my sized and the lady started making fun of me while i was texting a friend to see what she thought of the dress after a while i just had enough and left. i went to five stores all the same treatment (and tried on 50 dresses) i finally just went online and found my yes dress now i wait for it to come in

Please ignore what the woman said and get a dress.
