Today, I went shopping for a wedding dress at a fancy store. The proprietor took one look at me, said they don't have any dresses large enough for me, and asked me to leave. No wonder my self-confidence is in the gutter. FML

Ok, OP here. The first woman I asked did not even attempt to size me, just sent me to the 'plus' section. When I got to the plus section, she did not size me either, but looked me up and down and asked me what size t-shirt I wear. I usually wear a medium when I wear stretchy tees, large when I don't. She told me they will not have anything in my size in white ever. I should not go other places, either, I should just call and that way I don't have to be disappointed everywhere I go. Thank you guys for your words of encouragement, but I think I'm just going to not get a dress.

I was treated very badly when I bought my dress. I called the headquarters and told them I would call the news and they gave me my dress for free.

She's probably just jealous because she's not getting married. Always a wedding dress seller, never a wearer.

I am sure the wedding will be fine you'll find a dress...

my previous comment (if it's even being shown) wasnt directed to you! Someone posted a really rude comment against op and must have deleted it because my comment went here. ):

YDI - being that large is not healthy. I can't blame the shop woman, she knew what she stocked and what would fit customers. Don't get offended when people treat you what you are- plus.

"plus" isn't always as big as people think. how do you know this shop wasn't full of dresses made for girls who are basically twigs? Do you know what it's like to go to store hoping to find something you like but can't because you're not thin as a rail? today's society loves to depict anyone with meat on their bones as "overweight" or "plus." Not to mention even if OP is on the not thin side, how do you know it's not medical? And no matter WHAT the case, the worker didn't have to be so horrible to OP. Most of us who are bigger already know we aren't twigs. We don't need assholes adding fuel to the fire. Hang in their OP. You'll find the dress that's perfect and gorgeous! (:

That was so rude of the sales assistant. I hope your whole day wasn't completely ruined. Ignore her vile and stupid attitude. I am sure you will make a beautiful bride and wife no matter your size. Keep your chin up. I am sure there is the perfect wedding dress out there waiting for you. Good luck.

That's so rude. I hate people like that.

Dont let those idiots put you down, they have no right to make you feel that way. If you want a white dress, you'll get one! I would've thought in this day and age people would realise that everyone is different and it doesnt matter your race, religion, size, sexuality, looks, everyone has equal rights! Have an amazing wedding and stand proud with a smile on your face because your tougher than all of the people who try to put you down- dont let them win!

I would talk to her supervisor or cooperate.

I am so sorry. I know how it feels to be put down, and it can really tear you apart. Just do what you can to not let it get to you. At least you're not a terrible person like that girl is.

I've been in your situation. Honestly, at least you didn't waste your time there. Speaking from experience, there are plenty of beautiful bridal gowns in larger sizes. You just need to know where to go.

So go hit the treadmill. Drop a few lbs and fain some confidence.

She doesn't have to drop a few pounds just to get confidence because she's not even overweight and even if she was, she'd still be beautiful and a great person.

Exactly! She should find a better store that's willing to work with her, is worth her money, and wants her business, then give this hoity-toity, fancy-schmancy store the Middle Finger Salute.
