Today, I went to a karaoke bar for the first time. I'd never sung in front of others, but I gave it a try. I was accused of being way too drunk and was asked to leave. I didn't get kicked out in the end, but I was told that my singing voice sounds like a dying goat. FML

Today, I was at a karaoke bar. After a few drinks, I gave it a go. Halfway through “Total Eclipse of the Heart” I got so into it, I knocked over the mic stand. The mic flew off, hit the DJ, who then hit the emergency stop button, cutting off the music. I froze as the bar erupted into laughter. I did get a free Coke for my “performance,” which was something. Jeez, I'm sorry they gave you such a verbal bleating, OP.

Well you put yourself out there, so good for you, op!

There are some professional singers that have horrible voices, but know how to use them and sound amazing because of it. Your song choice would be a huge factor, and just knowing how to manipulate your voice. Singing is an amazing outlet and it is fun. Those people at karaoke were rude, isn't it an unwritten rule that you don't call anyone out, no matter how bad they are?

You goat to be kidding me. Surely, they are jealous of your initiative and bravery!

no, they really arent. op is just really bad at singing

it's not American idol. you need to find a karaoke person that doesn't allow heckling and try again. it's about fun, not voice.

Who wants to do karaoke with uptight judgmental try-hards anyway

Isn't that the whole point of karaoke? To be allowed to sing regardless of the fact that we sound like dying goats?

Still better than some of the crap that comes on the radio.

That's ****** up. Karaoke is about people being brave for trying and everyone is supposed to support you. They severely violated karaoke etiquette.

I'm an awesome singer. The louder the radio the better I sound.
