It does suck. But you all have to remember that her father probably sees this kind of stuff all of the time. And he sees when the kids fall back into bad habits and routines. I'm willing to bet after they went home from the play there was a nice long father-daughter conversation ending with "you need to stop seeing him"

Try to talk to the daughter with a speech ending with "you need to stop seeing your dad and come live with me so we can be happy". she probably has daddy issues.

If hes on probation (as opposed to parole) then it was probably a minor offense: underage drinking, smoking pot, fighting, petty theft or vandalism etc. That doesnt make him a bad person, just a "typical" teenager/young adult who got caught when others get away. Why is our society so vindictive? As soon as we get an excuse, we pile up punishments on people instead of giving them a chance to move on and change. Maybe having a nice girl will straiten him out, as opposed to a girl who would encourage him to keep acting like a knucklehead.

The probation officer kind of deserved this for being a probation officer in the first place! Have fun dude!
