Today, I went to my boyfriend's house to meet his parents. They informed me they were lawyers throughout the meal, which explained the gorgeous house. My boyfriend excitedly told them I was promoted manager at my job. They asked where I work. I work at Burger King. FML

Today, I borrowed my mom’s BMW to impress my new girlfriend. I'd told her that I owned an accounting firm, so I had to look the part. Today was also the day someone decided to rear-end us. That someone happened to be my boss at Burger King. Let’s just say, the cat’s out of the bag and I’m single now. FML

Today, I went over to my girlfriend's house for dinner. Her parents seemed upset, so I tried to lighten the mood by saying, "Hey, at least the weekend is coming up and you guys won't have to go to work." Apparently, they were upset because they both got laid off from their jobs today. FML

Today, my boyfriend proposed to me. My boss called me into her office and congratulated me, and spent almost half an hour asking me what our wedding plans were, where we might honeymoon, if we wanted kids, etc. She then followed this by suddenly remembering she had called me into the office to sack me. I don't think that being promoted to manager at BK is such a bad thing--You have a job in a tough economy, and managed to get a promotion! Be proud of it!

Yeah, for a college student or so it's not uncommon to work this kind of job to make money, tuition doesn't pay itself after all. And a lot of parents don't care where their kids' partners work, but more like whether they're responsible and treat their child well. If you just made manager that makes you look like a responsible person with a good work ethic. Especially since BK is not exactly everyone's dream job but you applied yourself enough to get promoted anyway. So what if they have a fancy house, you don't know how they paid their way through law school in the first place...
