People keep saying this isn't bad if you're under 20, but what? Are you serious? Why would the manager of ANYWHERE be under 20? I'd say the line is 25 here, because at that point you're out of college and should be able to get something better.
I'm 19 years old and I'm the Assistant Manager at a Dominos store. My Store Manager is also very young being only 20 himself. Perhaps this sort of thing is seen differently in Australia compared to where you are from but it is quite common here for people at my age to be in a management position at a fast food store. That being said, even if the person is 40 being in a management position at a fast food store can still be a great career opportunity. Some may not see it this way but if it is a job you enjoy and you don't mind working odd hours it can be quite good. There is a lot of room for progression and sure I may not be on $100k p/a but I'm being payed well enough to most certainly get by with no problems. I think OP should be proud of their achievement no matter what age.
#7 has the right idea. He's happy for you, so you should be happy in return. Yeah, it's a bit embarrassing, but like someone else said, you have to start somewhere.
well if you're 35 that would really suck, if youre 25 thats not too bad
If it's a job and your still in college then it's fine. If that;s your job job, then YDI. But I didn't say YDI cuz that would be too harsh...FYL.
Um...how is this embarrassing at all? You're probably in your 20's or less, and they're much older. Whoo, they're lawyers. Whoop-de-freakin-do.
I wouldn't worry about it. If you stay with your boyfriend for a few years you have a foot in the door at 1 or 2 law firms. Have to work your way up but I mean you have 2 connections through your bfs parents. Plus as managers of any place you make some decent money. Not going to get rich and live in a house like your bfs parents but not living in a box under the bridge either. It's probably a transitional job anyways so I wouldn't worry. Now if you are in your 40s and that's your life dream than that is a little embarassing.
Unless his parents are real jerks, they should actually be very impressed by this. It's NOT easy to be promoted to management in any field, including fast food. There are so many employees at those places and, by comparison, so few managers. Good for you! And, don't listen to the folks saying it's only a worthwhile job if you're in your teens or twenties. I mean, you probably make more than many people--especially teachers, many of whom have masters degrees! And, you know what, your boyfriend is proud of you. That's what really matters in the end. :-)
this is where you quit, start a new burger company named "king burger" that has the exact same food, hire a bunch of cheap laborers, offer a new line of "health conscious" products like salad that only has 600 calories instead of 1,000, expand to more stores, become a mutli-billionaire, invent a food that cures cancer, dump your boyfriend and marry whoever owns "coke" and take over the world, the solar system, the galaxy, then the universe. or, you could just deal with it. your choice...

He EXCITEDLY said you were promoted to manager. He's proud of you! YDI because it isn't bad. Don't be bummed.
Hey, you gotta start somewhere. Hopefully his parents understand that. Odds are they were in similar positions early on, too.
