Point of internet is to share info. A lot of people have diagnosed themselves with things that doctors have been unable to figure out. In complex cases looking for an on line article or a discussion might not be a bad idea and might be used to point the doctor in the right direction. Doctors are still people and they can't memorize the entire medical dictionary and all the complex interactions between symptoms, diseases, medications etc. so they use whatever they can to speed up their search for your disease or condition. Be thankful that your doctor took the time to actually find out whats wrong with you. They usually have their own databases to go through but with unusual things it might be tough to diagnose without going outside the box.
It seems you are too conservative to accept new methods of consulting. Doctor may not know everything, you know! I bet you wouldn't be upset if she/he was looking symptoms in some kind of encyclopedia (the point here is I'm talking about a book)
a doctor at a walk-in clinic told me to 'google it' when i asked what exercises i could do to help my back. and when i went to the gynecologist a couple months ago she told me not to bother getting tested for stds cos 'we don't worry about that so much here in the czech republic'.
lmfao #11 and yea i agree there's nothing wrong with googling the symptoms...
Although she should know most of this as it's her job title...So basically anyone can become a gynecologist as long as you have access to google at work? =P *rethinks carrer path*
I feel like being a gynaecologist is one of the more gross jobs you can have.
That's professional.
doctors have specialized encyclopedia and books and stuff XD my 0.02: instead of being examined with a medical purpose, you have been raped hahahaha
hahaha, #14. that's kind of creepy...
Keywords
I've been to 2 different doctor's that searched my problem on wikipedia and then printed the page out for me.
We can see you were first, Fidelis, you have a little #1 to the left of the date and time. And to the OP, I hear that that's not too uncommon, which is really sad, but true.
