The issue is information n the internet is not always reliable, It is not always moderated and is not always edited. If she looked something up in a medical encyclopedia, or something of the sort that would be different. As that is highly moderated and confirmed material written by other doctors that you can check on. There for googling it is not acceptable Looking something up on a computerized medical encyclopedia would be using some doctor generated and approved program would be. Looking at mary jo's geocity site on yeast infections is not
#9, you're 30 years old and you're still going to school. Nice hypocrisy.
#40 being a doctor isn't about knowing all the disease symptoms. in the past, they would get a few blood tests then go consult other doctors and look the symptoms up in a book. A good doctor is someone who can look up potential diseases with proper tests, come up with a good remedy. While you may be able to look at the same facts, you lack their training and experience, also resources. If a doctor can cut down on the number of visits you take by using google, more power to them. It saves you time and money.
That's scary. Many physicians use resources on the web, but most will at least take the time to listen to your story and get some possibilities and ideas of what you've got going on before jumping the gun, while you're still talking, googling your symptoms. Get a new physician who has more of a clue and definitely a better bedside manner.
Well... You can't expect your gynecologist to know every problem, and all the symptoms that cause each one.
You could have a really ****** up problem, or you could just have something that she doesn't happen to have any literature about on hand. The people jumping to conclusions about your doctor are stupid assholes. I'd rather have a doctor who admits that they don't know everything than a doctor who pretends they do know everything.
#19... WTF? Not funny at all, dude. Anyway, I understand a doctor not knowing everything, but in such a specific field you'd think they would especially be knowledgeable in this area. I don't know. I would honestly be put off too. I'm extremely picky with my doctors as it is... I'd want to feel confident in my doctor's training and abilities, not Google. The OP probably already Googled it and decided to go to the doctor for this specific reason.
This is why you go to a top rated doctor in the area. Luckily I know mine would never do that :)
The doctor probably had a few ideas of a possible diagnosis, but was googling it to check any other possibilities. As previously stated, doctors can't be expected to know everything, and when told the symptoms just spout out possible answers. Not everyones medical problems are strictly by-the-book. Everyone who's saying the OP could have just stayed home and googled her symptoms, the OP is not experienced in this area and would not know what to rule out, and what are viable options, whereas a doctor would.

I've been to 2 different doctor's that searched my problem on wikipedia and then printed the page out for me.
We can see you were first, Fidelis, you have a little #1 to the left of the date and time. And to the OP, I hear that that's not too uncommon, which is really sad, but true.
