19 generalize is spelled with a z try picking up a dictionary every once in a while. and this is just a funny fml

19- identifying my nationality based on the way I spell my words is not generalization or stereotyping. That is more culturally based "ID tag" more or less. I'm going to need you to pick up a book. ster?e?o?type? - a simplified and standardized conception or image invested with special meaning and held in common by members of a group: The cowboy and Indian are American stereotypes. gen?er?al?i?za?tion? - a proposition asserting something to be true either of all members of a certain class or of an indefinite part of that class. but the fact that you said "Let me guess, you must be American for thinking about moaning and suing before thinking rationally?" says that all Americans sue for meaningless reasons, and only Americans would sue over something so meaningless. Little do you know, people like that are a small percentage of the American population. Likewise, many Americans are disgusted by that sue-happy train of thought. So, before you start spouting bigoted remarks again, keep in mind that you might not know what you're talking about.

(Definitions provided by dictionary.com) P.S. Statistics can bend to show whatever you want to show. Thats why we use them. You also may want to clarify the difference between a 'known fact' and a generalization. You are obviously confused.

But we ARE pretty much the only one's who sue corporations for having coffee that's too hot after we spill it in our lap or 'making us obese' because we ate McDonalds 6 times a day everyday to 20 years.. Maybe not all Americans are like that, but to say that the people who do sue for stupid shit are always American, and not a different nationality, is probably true. Unfortunately that relatively small percentage reflects on all of us. Don't get all offended by this, get pissed at the people who created these other cases to give others this view of Americans in the first place.

'' identifying my nationality based on the way I spell my words [...]. That is more culturally based "ID tag" more or less.'' Cultural based "ID Tag" more or less. I was laughing too hard to read the rest. Let me break it down to you one last time before people start generalising about your culture, or lack of it: -The American language is the only one, in the world, to use a Z in the word generalisation (so language based tag more or less...), so I guessed right, you seem to be from America. - More Americans have been involved in court cases than any other people, in the world (so, hard to bend fact to adjust 'my requirements', more or less...) again, may be wrong, may be right, but there is a high chance that the person was American. What is there not to understand? Sorry, I don't have any copy pasted text from a dictionary to support my case, teach you the definition of the word bigot or/and make this response sound a bit smarter than it really is.

Those people do piss me off, and in my opinion, should be removed from the gene pool. Still, you shouldn't allow other people to bash you culture. Be proud of your nationality. We live in a great country that has its faults like any other. Yet, we are one of the most powerful countries in the world and have only been around for a fraction of the time. Although we are making our mistakes, those mistakes are nothing compared to the ones made by other countries years before the conception of a US. Still, we are bashed every second we turn around the very people who bash us have such darker histories.

@bombshell: You are thinking about the statement: "You are American, therefore you sue frivolously." However, he said "You (want to) sue frivolously, therefore you must be an American." They are different. For the sake of example, pretend that the only frivolous lawsuits in the world come from 0.001% of the American population. (For those of you about to go "WAIT THAT'S NOT TRUE OMG" remember the "for the sake of example" and "pretend" that preceded that.) The first statement would be a terrible generalization. The second statement would be completely true every time. As he said: he is making an educated guess.

I know what bigot means.... a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion. do you?

why do people on FML always try and correct every little thing about what other people say or believe, this is FML, no one is going to change their life over the comments that they read.

@d101: I apologi(s/z)e for making the assumption that you are male, but I was too lazy to "s/he" it.

Im pretty sure d101 should have given up after his moronic attempt at humilation, saying it was spelled with an S, failed miserably
