Today, I went to the local used books store to sell all my college textbooks. I spent several hundred dollars on them in total. I ended up walking out of the shop a pathetic $3.50 richer. FML

You should have asked to clarify whether she said "$350" or "3.50".

This is why you always buy textbooks secondhand... I learned that the hard way.

Online!! More money student look on ebay!!

It's all about getting your hands on a pdf file of the book, I save close to a thousand dollars by doing that every year in University. You won't always find a pdf of the same book you are looking for... but you can find a previous edition of it which still helps.

that's weird. did you not take good care of them or something?

If I where to have to sell it for that much I would have kept them

shoulda sold em online bro... there's some desperate students out there

Or even advertising them on the school/university bulletin board. Most new students will jump at the prospect of buying second-hand books for a fraction of the price. OP got majorly ripped off. I don't even understand why they would have accepted such a pathetic offer.

Try renting your textbooks next semester, or sell your used textbooks to a person through Craigslist or something of that manner.

I don't really understand this FML, does he mean he gotten paid the money he spent plus $3.50 or does he mean he literally only received that amount for all of his textbooks?

$3.50 is all he received for the books.

Sorry, but YDI. There are many people that would've paid more, even if the books are old - you only need to find them. There are many sites students use to look for books. I've sold many of my books, with a lot of writings and still easily got paid half of what I paid. It's not like they the people in the used book store forced you to sell them after telling you how much they would give. Selling them for that amount was YOUR choice. BTW: when you're selling them to a book store like that THEY make money of your books hat YOU could've made.
