Today, I went to visit some family out of state for my niece's birthday. I couldn't think of what to get an 8-year-old so I got her a Barbie doll. Everyone else got her money, iPods, game consoles, etc. When she got to mine she asked "how do I turn it on?" Then threw it away when she couldn't. FML

Kids these days are so ungrateful, it makes me sick

If they're not taller than the toilet then they don't need it.

I think that's a bit too much stuff for 8 year old's birthday. (consoleS means there's more than one) I wonder what the heck she would demand on her 18th birthday. Probably a planet.

It's the parents' fault. Don't raise kids on electronics, it's a bad idea.

I ******* hate children they're so ******* ungrateful.

okay that's harsh my niece is the same age or will be later this month and she is polite helps me with dishes when I babysit her and her little brother and sister and she loves dolls especially barbies all while being insulted by my aunt her great aunt who bought her house about how she'll be a failure in life because she doesn't get a math problem the first time so please don't say all kids are ungrateful because my niece proves that kids can be grateful

That kid needs to be smacked! So does everyone else that gave the kid stuff she doesn't need, nor deserve!

Mm, most presents aren't because the child deserves or needs them though - for their birthday - you give them things that will make them happy. But I agree that was extremely rude of the girl.

Shy in a box for a year and give her that for her birthday next year

I'm 16 and when I was 8 , I had to be outside all day except to eat, take care of my pet rat, use the bathroom , and sleep. On rainy days I played my game cube, or with my Barbies, or read books. I didn't even know what an iPod was.......

I actually feel sick to my stomach reading this.

It's the parents fault. Don't blame the kids because they were raised that way. The last generation is actually making this one bad. Kids don't raise themselves. Don't generalize

What an ungrateful brat! People need to teach their children how to ALWAYS say thank you when you get a present, even if you don't like it or you already have it. When someone spends their time and money picking out a present for you, you say thank you.
