Today, I went to visit some family out of state for my niece's birthday. I couldn't think of what to get an 8-year-old so I got her a Barbie doll. Everyone else got her money, iPods, game consoles, etc. When she got to mine she asked "how do I turn it on?" Then threw it away when she couldn't. FML

Why does an 8 year old get that shit? I never got that shit! Hell at this point just get her a damn vibrator. That's just as appropriate a present for a child as the rest!

I never got presents as a kid. Only video games for the NES, SNES, and Playstation. And it was only a few video games. How does the world change so quickly?

Well...To clarify, I didn't get all this sh— that this child does as a kid. And by few, I mean ONE.

Damn son, I started late. I got my first games console when I was 20 and too with my own money. The one doll/barbie I had as a child, was a present from outside the family and I wasn't allowed to rough it up. Kids nowadays are really sickening to see, all new parents need some lessons on rasing respectable and grateful kids.

I don't understand why a 8 year old needs an ipod...kids these days are basing their lives around technology too much. It scares me.

Technology is taking over. My 8 year old younger sister got an iPod, AND a laptop two years before I did, and I'm fifteen!!! I won so many academic awards and it took me so long to get rewarded for it... Kids and technology.... no.

Why spoiled? She is 8? A barbie? Wtf .. Next time just google something!

Seriously? When I was 8 I would of loved a Barbie doll. Even them the most expensive thing I had was a bike. At least that gives you fun and exercise. Sure beats sitting inside all day.

It's things like this that piss me off about this generation. Yes I had gaming devices when I was a kid but I was grateful unlike this kid. I'm 18 and I work my ass off to earn money to pay for my truck gas and the things I want. Hell when I was offered money for gas from my grandma out of the blue I politely declined because it wasn't right to take it

I agree, I never asked my parents for anything, unless I was going to pay them back.

I think we should regress to toys that require a little more imagination and creativity rather than giving an 8 year old a ******* IPOD.
