Today, I woke up again to a warm trickling sensation on my neck. It would seem my rabbit has a thing for doing his business on me to wake me up. FML

Does your rabbit always roam free in your room?

Shouldn't your rabbit be in a cage at night or something...

Why is your rabbit in a cage... That would solve everything

Why your rabbit isn't in a cage*

Cages are looked down upon since 1. they tend to be wire bottom which damages their feet, and 2. they tend to not be enough space for the rabbit to live comfortably.

I was thinking it was like that book Bunnicula and going vampire on your neck

Seriously, do many people allow rabbits free roam of the house all of the time? I seriously thought they lived in cages unless you were sitting right there watching them. I have never even heard of a litter box trained rabbit. I'm not putting anyone down for this just genuinely amazed by this free roaming rabbit.

This is the kind of thing I have to debunk all the time. Rabbits can be absolutely be litter trained. Mine roam around the apartment while I'm home and awake. They even know what rooms they aren't allowed to go into and don't go in there. They are so much smarter than people think they are.

I also had a litter trained bunny several years back. We never had any potty accidents and Floofer would thump along and do figure eights between our feet constantly. it was adorable.

Ok. I'm convinced you can let a rabbit roam and teach to use the box. Do they learn this fairly easily and quickly? Can you also teach tricks? Do they come when called? I'm again just very intrigued.

I think it's basically the same as potty training a cat, eventually they just learn to go to the same spot, although I believe if you move the tray the rabbit will go where the tray used to be. this is just what I read, I only had rabbits once, and someone decided to open up their pen and back gate. they also let a lot of dogs loose with the same tactic, silly twats

You can potty train pretty much any animal if you have the patience for it. Just start gathering their dirty bedding into one area and eventually they'll get the hint that they're supposed to go there. Also, pay attention to body language. When I let my guinea pig out of the cage to sit on my lap or run around, he'd start chewing on the rug/my pants when he had to pee.

rabbits have a tendency to go to the same spot when they need to pee/poop, so by putting a litter tray there they learn to use that then as well.

Litter training is fairly easy for most rabbits. There are tips and tricks if your rabbit is having trouble. Even wild rabbits tend to pick a spot and use there. It's best to find the spot they like best. Some come when called--it's kind of like a mesh between a cat and a dog. They totally know what you're saying, but whether or not they come depends on your relationship with them, what they think they'll get out of it, and whether or not they are feeling lazy. Yes, you can teach them tricks. A lot of people do clicker training. There are rabbit sports, and all those are trained. Feel free to message me with any questions.

My bunny roams freely around my room and has been able to for the whole 7 years I have had him. He has a cage to go into if he wishes but I don't lock my cat or dogs up so why should I lock my bunny up!

I hope I'm not overstepping any boundaries by giving advice, but I may be able to help in this matter. Once their scent is there, they will continue to consider it their bathroom. I find that a bed is a bad place for my bunnies because they don't want to/refuse to get down to do their business. A litterbox in the bed is not really an option either. You may be to give the rabbit steps to get down from the bed--make it lead to a litter box. For rabbits with litter problems, we usually suggest that you limit their roaming ability to a smaller area until they are perfect (or as much as possible) in that area. When they make a mess, clean it fully and get rid of the smell (1 part vinegar, 1 part water. remember that vinegar disinfects, too). Hay in one corner of the box is also very helpful, since they eat and use the restroom at the same time. Don't worry--they won't eat it if it's soiled!! Any other way I can help, feel free to message me.

If she's that close to a rabbit's weiner, she should be worried about being pissed on!

I'd lose the rabbit. Many people will disagree with me on this but unless you're willing to put the rabbit in a cage where it belongs, I'd get rid of it. They can't be trained like dogs. Having feces and urine all over your house is not hygienic at all, especially if that urine is all over you and soaking into the area where you sleep every night.

cats cant be trained like dogs, but you dont see them locked in a cage. and no, rabbits do not belong in a cage. they need and deserve freedom as well.

So why is your rabbit out of its cage?

Just put the rabbit in a cage when u go to sleep

Why is your rabbit out and about while you sleep in the first place?
