Today, I wrote a poem for this guy I am falling for. Before telling him that I wrote it, he read it and then laughed at how "corny and stupid" it was because he would "never date someone who could come up with something that lame." The poem was about how vulnerable he makes me feel. FML

It's cool that you had the guts to gave him a poem you wrote yourself, but you really shouldn't write about how vulnerable someone makes you feel. And they're a little overdone, making them even more corny. Not everyone appreciates poetry though.

If you want to write him a poem, make damn sure it's a good one. Far too many teenage girls think they've got the writing talent of William Shakespeare yet compose trite, angsty pieces that can make one's eyes bleed; some of them would put a Vogon to shame. It's extremely easy to write a poem that looks sincere and profound to you but corny to someone else. I'm sure someone will say that it's the thought that counts, but thought only goes so far. It's usually not enough to get someone to fall for you unless they're already interested and are too shy to make the first overture.

#154 So some guys aren't romantic and don't enjoy poems. That doesn't mean they have to lash out at emotionally vulnerable people. I don't enjoy babies crying but I wouldn't hit a baby for doing it. OP -Dodged a bullet there... maybe you can date someone who isn't a jerk now
