Today, in a rush to get out of my house to go to a doctor's appointment, I closed the door behind me without having my house or car keys on me. Sadly, it took me less than a minute to break into my own house. FML

Well now you know to get stuff to protect your home better...at least it didn't take a stranger breaking in to teach you.

Well at least you didn't waste any more time getting your keys.

you definetly overcome the tendency to forget keys before you plan to secure your house locking system...

It could be worse. My boyfriend and I had a drunken argument years ago in the middle of the night. We were both naked. As I stormed out on the porch of our one-room shack (seriously, it was 50 years old and next to our art school) I slammed the door. So did he. Then we looked at each other in drunken horror as we remembered it was a self-locking door. We crept to the side, gingerly climbed on the gas meter, and just pried the glass panes out of the jalousie window with our fingers. Took three minutes. We never slept easy again in that place.

How did your door lock if you didn't have the keys?

glad u realized it before it was too late..

Sorry OP, Atleast you know now an upgrade to your locks and or alarm system Is needed. It was meant to happen. Good luck

Get a big ass man-eating dog. Perfect home defense system.

Wow ... You locked yourself out but got right back in and didn't miss your appointment ! Cancer riddled people and teens who were masturbating then got caught by their parents are all thanking God right now that they are not you.

I always keep my lock picking set on me at all times just for this kind of situation. Not just because I'm a burglar.
