Today, in a rush to get out of my house to go to a doctor's appointment, I closed the door behind me without having my house or car keys on me. Sadly, it took me less than a minute to break into my own house. FML

Maybe not. If he has a doggy door, maybe that same dog is also a trained attack dog? I've heard that owning a dog is one of the best security systems to keep thieves away.

I did that before when I was younger, but was middle if the night and didnt want to wake anyone up. So I broke in by removing a window fan. never felt safe again knowing it took me 20s

Curious. How did the OP do it? If it's something like a brick to a glass window, I think everyone could have done that in less than a minute too. I think this situation is better than the OP not being able to get into their house at all and being stranded outside for hours. Or hurting them self trying to kick in the door etc.... Silver lining.

Probably climbed through a window. I did that once, and thankfully there was no one outside to see me do it.

But if you left the keys inside, so why did you have to break in? Or if you had your house keys you could've used that?

OP left all the keys in the house. There was know other way to get inside besides breaking in. Or calling a locksmith but they can take up to days to get there.

I had to help my folks one time, took me a plastic credit card and about 30 seconds and I was in. They were very surprised.
