I'll tell you what, in a situation like this it has to be unanimous in the class to look at that shit and it can only be during off-time. I've experienced this both ways. One was a teacher in social studies who kept talking about his favourite football team (that's soccer for americans) and got derailed from teaching into this very topic as soon as someone mentioned it. The second is a teacher I have right now, he's a computer teacher, meaning he has a class in which we learn pretty much all there is to know about computers. At every stop where people go to fetch coffee or go to lunch he talks about video games and other unrelated stuff and shows videos he likes of games or just about anything. No one gets annoyed because no one needs to be involved and no one loses worktime. I'll go ahead and say that the teacher should have a slap on the wrists and if he doesn't better himself he doesn't deserve the job he has. The problem here is that the derailing bad teachers are often very likeable and you wouldn't necessarily want him gone. But my class ran into trouble when we changed teachers at the end of the semester, and trust me, you will too.

As much as I hate the Harlem shake I would hate to have to watch it, but on the bright side at least it sounds like you have a pretty fun professor.

I personally like it when teachers take a break from lecturing and joke around with us students and have fun. It shows us a funnier side to them and it gives us a break from note taking!

What is the problem with the Harlem Shake? It's only 30 something seconds, it's the same as any other fad we've had over the years and accept for situations like this, you don't have to watch it. I would agree that your teacher is wrong, but furthermore I don't understand why everyone gets so offensive about the Harlem Shake. It's just for funzies, just like Gangnam style. Why was Gangnam style okay and this isn't?

How is that a bad thing? That sounds amazing!
