So much stupidity in this comment thread. Guys, the author does a follow up for a reason, and this author has done many. For those saying 'just buy a car yourself' yeah okay because cars are so cheap and easy to buy and the insurance isn't a shitload and that doesn't matter on top of college. Also, if you had read the follow up you would know OP doesn't live with her parents. Also, even if she did, I don't think you guys understand how expensive and hard it is to live alone. I mean how much money do you actually make without a college degree while in school? Not much, I can tell you. So for those think if she lives with her parents makes her spoiled or a freeloader, how about you get a job that completely supports you and live alone and then tell us how easy as you make it out to be. Also, living with parents isn't always a money thing . My cousin is a pharmacist which we all know pays over 100k so obviously she is able to live alone, but she is best friends with her mom and that's why she chooses to live at home. My other cousin is an engineer and his brother works for the family business, and they are pretty wealthy overall. The sons are well financially in their own name, but they chose to live together still.
