Today, it dawned on me that I've been married for 6 months, but because of the Army I've spent only around 12 days total with my wife. FML

Last time I checked, we were free before we were in this war. We actually invaded THEM. Not to say I don't have respect for the troops, but we are fighting in a war that isn't ours. And for my pre-determined response to the people that will ramble on about how they attacked us first: Not one Iraqi has ever killed any of our people on our soil. 9/11 was mainly Saudi Arabians. As for OP, I'm terribly sorry for you. I don't think your life is fuckable, nor do you deserve it at all. You have a wife that loves you enough to stick by you for long periods at a time without seeing you. Be happy you have her, she sounds like a great girl.

So this guy is crazy about me, but we haven't ever been on a date because he went to the marines before he contacted me again. He was supposed to come back in June but it was postponed till August. So I know how that sucks for you. Hopefully things will get better. (I support you for being in the Army, btw)

Oh, that's so unfortunate - I hope you get to see your wife more in the future. Thank you for your sacrifice though - I admire your courage.

What the ****?! 5228 PEOPLE SAID YDI?! You people need to grow the **** up. this man is doing what so many others did before him; protecting his country, YOUR country, his rights, and YOUR rights. I'm Canadian and it STILL pisses me off when assholes make fun of military in any country. He's one of the hundreds of thousands of military members giving you the right to talk shit. I hope when the next big war comes all you little peckerheads are drafted. THEN you'll see what it's like.

I can't believe you're Canadian and you still assume the US Army defends everyone's rights. At the moment, I repeat, since people have trouble reading, AT THE MOMENT, the US Army isn't defending my country, or any country for that matter. They're only attacking defenceless countries. He's not giving me the right to "talk shit" at all, that's our my country's law, which no soldier is defending.

this is a dumb war with no purpose. it is based on lies and started with a lie(that is proven). if a actual scary war with meaning comes arounnd i will be more supportive. but i feel bad for the OP that sux to be away from family! :(

to all of u saying we r attacking defenless countries shut the hell up. we are not attacking the citiezens of the country. have u ever heard of the ******* taliban or al quiada ya well those r the people we r attacking. and they are not attacking any crazy terrorist groups of our they attacked innocent poeple in 9/11 dont think any crazy groups had there hideouts in those towers and having my uncle die in 9/11 because of those bastards i hope the army kills every ******* one of them

Al-Quida was the name of a computer database. And I don't know what happened on 9/11, but I know that Al-Quida does not exist.

mattyb39 0

so u think al quida is a big scam and were fighting a computer base i dont think so and even if al quida didnt exist there is still the ****** taliban who would blow the shit out of us every chance they get

hoff90 0

wow you asses, instead of criticizing him for joining the armed forces, try thanking him. Also, i don't know what the hell Al-Quida is, but I know we are fighting Al-QAEDA over there.

arienh4 0

Al-Quida is another name for Al-Qaeda. Both refer to a military database which was used by the military some time ago. Also, what could he possibly be thanked for?

Unless you are in the military, you wouldn't understand the true depth of what could be going on. For example: My husband is not deployed currently but I see him maybe 3-5 hours per day on days he works. So our 'free' time is maybe one or 2 days a week. And our 'free' time and the 3-5 hours per day I 'see' him consist of usually more work for the Army. My husband and I don't complain about it. This is the way of life and this gentleman wasn't complaining about being in the Army. He is upset about the realization that he doesn't get to spend time with his wife and it's BECAUSE of the Army. That's it people. I'm not even sure if this is worth trying to explain to people that just don't know what it's like. Anyone that is attempting to understand, that has never themselves been in the military, is not going to get this concept. That would be like me telling someone how to raise their children, when I don't have any.

First of all, I don't expect you to read all of this, it's just what I think. Everyone who is saying that the world would be better without armies is naive. A world without armies will only work in a world without evil, fear, hatred, pride, envy, and greed. This is a world that we don't live in. Even if we find a way to have all countries disregard armies, we would only create greater segregation throughout the world. Every one wanting the others possessions, fearing the ones next to them until armies resurge with a new vigour. By claiming that it is armies who start wars you are right, armies controlled by governments. Governments who are just trying to do what's best. I may be the only person in the world who believes this but, I feel bad for George Bush. He remind me of a child. He made one mistake, and had to keep making other mistakes to try to fix the first mistake. I can only assume that by the end of his presidency he was a wreck. But for people who say that he should have pulled out of the middle east have to understand that it isn't as easy as "okay everyone, let's go home." That's why Obama, who promised to pull out of Iraq, still has troops in there. He's trying, but it's harder than it seems. Last thing, I promise. For those who say that America is merely a warmongering country with murder on the brain is as naive as the first people I talked about. The world isn't as black and white as we all wish it was. You can claim that God said that it's bad to kill others, yet the history of any religion is written in blood. The times aren't different, the year is. Swords are guns and catapults are missles. So you say that there is no reason for the invasion, claiming that there hasn't been a terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11. Maybe that's because of the army. Just because the government doesn't run to the media like a child with a drawing yelling "Look what I did!" doesn't mean it didn't happen. One last thing, I'm Canadian

that is soooooooo not true! adults just need to change their mindset. they think they have straightforward answers to everything, they always think they know whats right, and they think everything has to be the way it has been before. there is no reason to fight really. maybe the government should listen to the "naive" people because maybe they have a simpler better way. you say not using armies is a bad idea but we haven't tried anything else so you don't know. I don't understand why people with families go to the army during a war though. Yes, bad things will happen no matter what; most likely people will still commit crimes no matter what. This war is happenning for no reason anyway, it atarted because of a lie that Bush told us. I don't think that wars and armies can or will just end but inoscent people are dying for no reason now and that is awful. Also, the government does want the media to know all the good things they do to make them look good so they can get elected etc. why do you think people from the government schedule press confrences and stuff?! You say its not as easy as it seems to pull people away from war but it can be! we might not need an army to fix iran or iraq or warevr we are fighting in if we pull out the armies then we can put in charity groups to donate clothes and homes and food. They don't want us destroying their homes and killing their people so let's just get out! i feel bad for the person wu wrote this though becase it must be sad to be away from family. so dont get me wrong i support the poor soldiers over there who are away from home now. and thats cool ur from canada! i luv canada and there free health care and everything! canada is great!!! i wish i lived there it seems awesome!

You raise a good point. But I have to remind you that democratic governments aren't just ran by a single entity, Bush had advisers, I'm not saying this isn't all not his fault (He has the final say after all), but there are others in his administration all as much to blame as he is. We are ostracizing this man and ignoring the rest of the cabinet. For gods sake, his vice president shot a man in the face! I have actually heard of people wanting him to be tried for war crimes. The rest of his administration gets off scot free. I just think it isn't fair to put all the blame on a single entity. If you shoot someone, you don't charge the hand, you charge the body. As for the rest of your post, I completely agree, I wish that people would stop being as irrational as they are, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. As far as I can tell; people will keep right on destroying the environment, killing each other, and just being jerks until it's too late. PS. Thank you for the pro-canadian comments, but just so you know, our health care isn't excatly free, we just pay for it at a different time. Plus in the long run we pay less...that may have sounded like gloating...

thank you! i guess ur right but it still bugs me that were in this war! ya his vice presisdent was an idiot lol! i didnt know about that war crimes thing thats interessting. i agree about him only being one person just cuz he's the president he doesnt do everything but i dont like him. the third paragraph: thanks. i agree completely. it's sad though i wish we could do more. it's true they will just continue to be the same until we have messed up everything. your welcum. oh i get it. lol its not gloating. it's smart i wish we had that.

Suck it up, cupcake. You enlisted. How could you NOT know that would happen? No sympathy from me. You deserved that one.

arienh4 0

You're saying he deserves to never see the woman he loves because of this choice. How would you console those who have known people who have died in wars, "well they enlisted, they knew it could happen"

arienh4 0

That's the way I feel anyway.

Awh, that sucks balls. :[ You need to give your wife lots of kisses and loooooveee.

Sorry to hear that. My boyfriend joined the army a year ago and I've seen him all of 15 days total...

My heart goes out to you. My cousin is a marine with the MOS of diesel mechanic. He is partially disabled, married to an Army vet who is fully disabled, and has a handicapped infant. He received a letter fairly recently telling him that he is going to be re-activated and deployed very soon.

I feel you man...I just sent my Airman fiancee back to his base after only 2 weeks leave for the 9 months he was stationed there. Shit sucks, but we'll make it through. Hang in there.

Man, I feel your pain. I've been married for nine months, but because of the Army...I have only spent about two weeks with my husband. But he'll be home soon.
