Today, it's my 18th birthday. My parents got me a $5 gift certificate to iTunes. It came for free with the iPhone they just bought my sister for her middle school graduation. FML

maybe they cant afford it the economy does suck....get a job and save up for something yourself.

Give your parents a gentle reminder that you'll get to choose their nursing home in the future.

for my 18th birthday my mom paid for my wisdom teeth to be taken out, and the insurance covered 85% of it. for christmas my present was my mom helping me move out.

Step back for a minute. Sometimes parents don't always play favorites, also we don't know if she graduated early, or with perfect marks. We don't have the full situation. What happens if the OP is some douche bag older brother that brings skanks home and is a complete waste of space? Maybe the sister is a stupid moron and the parents know that she will make middle school graduation and not high school graduation. You never know.

First of all, to all of you who said it's a fake because you can't graduate in March, once and for all : FML are REQUIRED to start with Today and end with FML. It doesn't mean the FML happened today ! And parents who play favorite among their children are a reality. Take this for an example : I had to pay for college myself, to pay for my rent and so on and now my mom gave my sister who just started college this year an apartment free of charge just next to the school and she also provides the food. But while I blame my mother somehow for this situation, it is never funny to experience it after all, I don't see why I should blame my sister, she is hardly responsible for my mother's actions and the OP's sister isn't to blame either. She got a great present for her "graduation", she isn't going to complain and it's not her fault the OP's parents didn't give him anything for his birthday, there's no need to call her a bitch or stupid.

Graduating from middle school is a little bit more of an accomplishment than reaching 18 years, if your family does well enough to afford an iPhone as a graduation present. Her graduation isn't much of an accomplishment anyway, but it at least required some work. You managed to stay alive. What did you expect, cigarettes? ****?

Half this thread is missing the point. I'd feel entitled to a >$5 present when the brat gets an iphone. Heads would roll. And to #170, I'm pretty sure OP would be graduating high school at about that time.

Watch this video on youtube. It shows how to blend an iPhone 3G into powder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLxq90xmYUs

Did anyone consider that this might have been some sort of test? Maybe the OP is a selfish brat, and the parents wanted to teach her a lesson. They probably sent back the new car they bought her as the real present.
