Today, it was my next-door neighbor's birthday. Over the past year, his pitbull has attacked my stepdad several times and put some stiches on me. Lucky for us, the dog was finally put down. For his birthday my neighbor got a new, bigger, pitbull. FML

Not all pitbulls are mean, maybe you'll get lucky and this one won't be.

this is bullshit. pits are amazing dogs, maybe its the owner whos the dumbass and raising them to be aggressive. its basically like raising a kid, teach them to rape and murder and 9 times out of 10 they'll grow up with the mindset that its ok. its people who dont understand this that give pits a bad rep, and another reason that theyre nearly outlawed.

i dont care if pitbulls were "bred to take care of children while men were working the farm" the fact is that it often attacks children and people. its a fact. our city has a muzzle enforcement bill on the table right now and i hope it passes. they just hurt people or just bark like crazy. i wish others in my neighborhood would keep their dogs inside instead of having them outside barking all the time.

Um if I ever ran into you and you have a yappie ankle biter. It even nips at me I would smash its head in just for that comment about muzzles.

Honestly, knowing how ******* retarded people get around pit bulls because of stigma - your step-father probably provoked the dog. Just like some other moron in your family is going to provoke this one. I'd say you deserve it, but honestly, nothing ******* happened to you. This post doesn't even belong here. Oh, and congratulations to your neighbor on his new pet. Hopefully it'll be less a pain in the ass than his neighbors have been.

1: I own a pitt; it has never attacked anyone, the most it has done is growled. Unless he knows I am in need of help, or he is told, he wont move from the spot he's in until i allow him. 2: My Pitt only barks for two reasons; someone came into the yard and if he's playing.

I'd also like to point out; last night my tire blew in a construction zone on the highway. I had brought my pitt puppy on the ride with me, and guess who knew something was wrong before it even happened? My pitt is trained to sit in the passenger seat and never climb into my lap. Low and behold, not minutes before it blew, my puppy climbed into my lap, and started looking toward the tire out the window and was pawing at the window and kept whining and looking back at me! Now tell me my Pitt is a killer, and doesn't care about anyone else.

WOW! Hopefully this one isn't as vicious.

I feel so sorry for you! I know Pitbulls aren't a vicious dog but..it is the breeder and the owner that makes them the scary dogs people fear. The breeder (unscrupulous ones) that inbreed them, breed fighting lines, do not breed out agressive traits etc etc and then the owners. The owners that then take these dogs from these lines or even from the good lines and do not train them properly (the need firm control and command and know who is pack leader). The ones who train them to be aggressive, mean, out of control and live up to the stereotype that gets this breed banned from cities. They can actually be a sweet and loving and loyal dog. But this can be the case with ANY dog breed, pure bred or mixed mutt. I am so sorry you have had bad encounters with your neighbours dog and if anything untowards starts to happen with this new one, I would definately start calling animal control, the ASPCA, anything to get that animal away from your neighbour and from you. And to possibly get your neighbour fined if he is a bad dog owner and banned from owning that breed. Maybe possibly getting that poor og to people who will properly take care of it and in doing that keep everyone safe. I hope things work out. Good luck.

Pitbulls are NOT bad dogs...Everyone who rules them out as a pet is just being close minded because any dog can bite you. Do not blame pitbulls for their owners

hope the dog bite you so you can sue there asses.

Shoot the owner. You're welcome. That'll be $182.17.

Pit bulls have been bred for violence, but it doesnt mean they have to be, if the owner nurtures the agressive part of the dog, it will be nasty, if the dog is punished for agressive behaviour it won't do it so much. ALSO, dogs are known for 'fear agression', so the OP could have scared the dog, or made it feel threatened in some way. But pit bulls ARE agressive dogs naturally, because agressive dogs have been bred together, to create a higher agressive hormone in the puppies as they were fighting dogs, you just have to be careful with who owns them.
