Today, like every other day at work, I had to listen to people talk about being addicted to sex. I have to treat people for addiction to something I've never even had. FML

yes, a high school student is definitely qualified to rehabilitate sex addicts.

It's okay OP. I mean, there are plenty of purple addicted to heroin and I've never tried that before. No reason to join the crowd. You do you.

I myself am quite fond of purple. I've found I don't enjoy people anywhere near as much.

Would you have heroin if you were to treat drug addicts ?

Lol that's like when you make a small **** up with your friends and your parents are asking if you'd jump off a bridge if they did. Sex is normal to do; if not expected in ones life, heroin use isn't.

I agree that op doesn't need to have sex to treat sex addicts, the same way someone wouldn't need to do heroin to treat heroin addicts. However, I would probably appreciate the advice more if the therapist had been the addict and was able to beat it. I would feel like he knows exactly what I would be feeling.

i would want someone that has struggled with drugs to treat me if i was addicted.

Id rather not have sex that be a sex crazed maniac. Some men have very high testosterone levels and can be completely horny again about 30 minutes after they busted a nut.

That's not only a men's problem.

A lot of people that treat drug addicts haven't tried drugs either. I'm sure if they're having to be treated for it, it's not all that great.

To anyone that says virginity is important, and something that you "can't get back." Virginity is a meaningless social construct and you shouldn't feel bad or good, for losing it. You should, however, wait for someone you're comfortable in becoming intimate with before you have sex. If you end up splitting, which isn't unlikely, that's okay! The important thing is that both parties are willing and consenting, and I'm sure that, in time, you will find someone to share that with. There is no shame in waiting.

I completely agree that virginity is a social construct. My first turned out to be an asshole and if I could go back I would not have done it with him. But to me it's not a big enough deal to consider it a regret.

Well put #19. Losing your virginity is just the first time you have sex. I mean, we frequently do things for the first time, but none of them are made as big a deal of as losing virginity is. Imagine someone saying, "Man, I'd really like to start watching movies already but I'm a movie virgin and I want to make sure my first movie is perfect and special. After all, I can never get my movie virginity back."

Exactly 19! Which is why I refer to it as "making my sexual debut" instead.

Maybe you shouldn't go into the highest paying field of social work without the slightest ability to comprehend what client's experiences, but rather enter a SW field where you might actually be able to help people....

Because every drug counsellor has obviously tried every single drug ever. Obviously.

Yeah but he seems kinda bitter about it... Otherwise, why the FML?

Sex is like air: it only seems important when you don't have it.

Nope, nope. Definitely seems important WHILE you're having it, too! If nothing more, to avoid situations like: "How do you like that!!?" "I'm sorry, what? I'm thinking about calculus.."

celibacy and maturity are not mutually exclusive. There's nothing wrong with being an adult and being a virgin.
